Disclaimer
What our pet travel information is, what it is not, and why you should always confirm the current rules with authorities and airlines.
Effective date: September 2, 2026
General information only
Everything published on Vimoty is general informational guidance about travelling internationally with dogs and cats. It is written to help you understand what is normally required and where the official rules can be found.
It is not tailored to your pet, your documents, your route or your airline, and it should not be treated as an instruction list for a specific journey.
Requirements change without notice
Entry requirements, health rules, document formats, accepted routes and airline pet policies can change at any time, including at short notice and during a trip that is already booked.
Pages on Vimoty show when the information was last reviewed. Between reviews, and even shortly after one, the underlying rules may have moved on.
Authorities and airlines decide
Government and veterinary authorities decide whether an animal may enter a country. Airlines decide whether an animal may be carried, in which cabin or hold, in what container, and under which conditions.
Their current published rules and their decisions at the time of travel always take precedence over anything you read here.
Please verify before you travel
- Confirm entry requirements with the competent authority for your destination, and with the authority in your country of departure.
- Confirm the pet transport rules, container specifications, deadlines and fees directly with your airline for your exact route and aircraft.
- Speak to a veterinarian about identification, vaccination, treatments, documents and your pet's fitness to travel.
